Foxmarks is a Firefox add-in that allows users to synchronize bookmarks across platforms.

Foxmarks is a Firefox add-on that allows users to synchronize bookmarks across platforms. For a guy that used to occasionally backup and restore his bookmarks across multiple computers using the built in utility, this sweet little add-in makes Firefox an even more formidable companion in my quest to surf all of the Internet.

Note: You can use your own server to host the service, but then other issues like implementation, performance, and user adoption become a bit tricky. Even if you are pushing your instances of firefox preloaded with add-ons, your users will still have to go in and configure the add-on manually. However, if not having your or your user’s data on a foreign server trumps convenience, this is an option.

#######################################

Another valuable add-on:

NoScript prevents websites from running Java by default, requiring you to whitelist each by FQDN or domain. Despite the initial inconvenience, using this add-on prevents any malicious website you run across from running just any Java-script that it wants on your computer.
